About the bean

Established in 2013 by Ato Getahew and Ato Aschalew, DIMTU Coffee Industry is an Ethiopian exporter invested in specialty coffee. Their journey is founded on a mission to develop, celebrate, and elevate the value of coffee from the Guji sub-region of Sidamo. Their washing and drying station features 250 shade-covered, raised drying beds.

DIMTU sources coffee from the forests of Guji, within a 150-hectare area it owns, as well as farmers from the nearby Odo Shakiso woreda. Each farmer who delivers coffee to DIMTU receives the opportunity to train in sustainable practices, along with resources to develop the quality of their offerings, and support aimed at strengthening community bonds between growers.

For this lot, handpicked cherries were carefully inspected before being placed on drying beds, where they were raked continuously to promote an even dry. To finish, a processing center in Addis Ababa dry milled and prepared the coffee for export to organic-level standard.

Smooth, bright, and warm, the beans for this lot are very even (a bonus for home roasters). Expect a moderate acidity and mild sweetness. A cup to build a day or evening on.
