About the bean

Peru is recognized throughout the world for its specialty coffee excellence. The country's focus on high-end offerings began in earnest three decades ago. Today, more than 6,000 families are dedicated to specialty production.

Our new lot of Peru Fair Trade Organic is from the Norandino Agrarian Cooperative, a favourite of ours, representing 4,000 producers in the northwest and northern highland areas of Piura and Cajamarca. Their Fair Trade certified and organic lots are prepared for export by the cooperative, which is equipped with one of the most advanced dry mill operations in Peru, along with its own SCA certified cupping lab and training facility.

As anticipated, this is a lovely Peruvian brew. Flavorful with a medium acidity and lingering aftertaste. The cocoa-chocolate presence is strong and delicious. We tried our sample as an Americano with cream (beautiful). A terrific match for breakfast fare and sweet options. We would also recommend brewing as an espresso, drip, and/or French press. Across the spectrum of options, this lot holds its character and balance.
